Unpatchable firmware versions for Sansa FuzeV2

Hi I have a FuzeV2 and have had it Rockboxed for most of the year.

It recently developed a stiffness with the click wheel. I have made arrangements to RMA it (they will replace it.)

However when I was reading the forums here earlier in the year I remember hearing about some versions of the official firmware that made the player impossible to Rockbox.

Is this no longer the case? I want the click wheel fixed but ultimately if I had to give up Rockbox I think I might put up with it.
