Ipod Connected to computer, but cannot access files

(1/1)

saadit.k:
Hi, I got rockbox yesterday, and it was working fine. I have a Ipod Video (click wheel) and mac book pro.

I installed rockbox yesterday, everything went without a hitch, I have to say, really, really simple install. Everything was working fine. I could plug in the ipod, access all the files, change things, play games etc. But this morning, I plugged in the ipod to put in a few game boy roms, and the ipod did not show up on my mac. So I tried with the apple firmware, it worked fine. I don't know what the problem is, I mean, i can use the click wheel to change the volume etc. But I cannot access the files with RockBox.

I don't think it's a hardware problem, since i only bought the ipod cable yesterday, and usb ports are working fine. (i tested them with usb's) So, any help? I don't want to keep having to restart my ipod whenever i need to access the files.

EDIT***: On the ipod, the pic of the usb comes up, so, the ipod says its connected to my laptop, b

Thanks in advance! If anymore info is need, please ask!

Check the USB HID settings.

I think OSX has trouble with composite devices so you might need to turn off the HID functionality in Rockbox.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried these settings, but unfortunately it does not work  :'(

I was under the impression that turning HID off would work around the problem.  Hopefully someone who has this player can help you.

In the meantime you can dual-boot to Apple's firmware for USB mode.

Yeah, I guess for now that is the only solution. Who knows, someone might a simple solution for me :P
