Free-State SBS Mod Theme Problems in v3.7
« on: November 10, 2010, 02:23:07 AM »
I recently installed v. 3.7 on my Sandisk e200. Unfortunately, I've encountered the following problems: :'(

1)  The progress bar (i.e the graphical icon representing the elapsed time of current file) appears "greyed out" rather than as the diagonal "zebra-stripped"  font in earlier versions of Rockbox. diagonal colored icon. Perhaps the font has been colored wrong due to coding errors? IAC, it is visually useless since one can't see the progress of the file.

2) The background color for all context menus appears as a light white. The problem is that the font color for letters is also a similar shade of white. This makes the words difficult to impossible to read. Note that when a word (or more specifically a  menu item) is selected the word/menu item can be read by virtue of the "color" of the selection font. However, the selected item still is difficult to read.

3) The "play" icon (i.e. the graphical icon that is a circle with a right facing arrowhead) which shows the current file being played , appears super-imposed on all context menus. It thus interferes with menu items because it appears on top.

Free-state was my all time favorite theme. I've  had no problems with previous versions and rated it a "11" out of ten. ;D
My problems only began when I upgraded to Rockbox 3.7 & then downloaded the latest version Free-State SBS Mod Theme. Everything went south after that.

I've reinstalled both the theme & Rockbox, to no avail. The problems still remain

I'm very sad to loose this theme and hope it can be fixed. Nevertheless, I commend the coder for trying to make it available for the current build. I apologize if my explanations are not adequately expressed.

The themesite was batch updated from 3.6 to 3.7 syntax.

This means that while all care was taken to create the tool that updated the themes, it is still a man made tool and is subject to the flaws of man.

It could also not perform the task of placing items which need to be in a viewport to display properly in viewports.

I'd find it incredibly unlikely any human uploaded a theme in that state.

1: A lot of the batch updated themes suffer this fate, caused by the progressbar not being in its own viewport.

2: Sounds a little odd, but probably is as intended as I don't see the updater script changing any fg/bg colour values.

3: this sounds as though it is the intention of the theme (hence the "SBS MOD" in the title), you don't *have* to load the .sbs file...it can be unloaded optionally.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I apologize for my ignorance but I'm not sure what "solution" you're proposing. Should I just uinstall the whole theme and go back to 3.6?

I went and deleted the "free state sbs" file but that didn't solve the problem.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated (again apologizing for my obtuseness).
