If you could actually back up your claims with the with battery bench logs clearly showing a noticeable decrease in battery life, and you had performed these benches in a the same way for both revisions in question (same album/playlist on repeat, same .cfg settings, don't touch the player until the bench completes, etc.) then...how could anybody question it?

No, some people just want to be able to clearly see that other people have backed up their claims/suspicions with facts.
Right now all you have is a hunch, and forgive people for not trusting your powers of perception but Rockbox does come with the battery bench plugin so that you are able to run battery benchmark tests, so it isn't like you need to do a lot to back up your claims.

Again, if you're fairly sure...do a battery bench with the revision you believe has the shortened battery life, and one with a revision you believe doesn't have the problem so the results can be compared.

And it's nothing personal.  All of us are subject to the placebo effect so it's simply a matter of wanting to verify that a physical cause underlies a perceived difference.
