Why does the highlight stays on the first track in the playlist?

Can you experts please advise me what is needed to get the highlight to show on the song that is currently playing, instead of staying on the the first track in the playlist?

I use Rockbox on a 4 GB Sandisk Sansa e260, with a 8 GB micro sdhc card, with file view set to show All files, as the Music folder on the e260 were initially hidden.

Highlight where? I just checked the playlist viewer (accessed through the wps context menu) and it is correct. Do you mean the file browser (or database viewer)?

I use the Files or Database lists to start playing an album, and was expecting the highlight to move on the Files or Database list to the currently playing track.

I had not considered using the Playlists, where as you say the highlight does get moved correctly to the current track.

Is it the case then that highlight is static on the Files or Database lists?

turn on "follow playlist" in the settings and the file browser will do what you expect

Thanks for the suggestion, Jonathan, but using Settings> General Settings> File View> Follow Playlist> Yes does not make the Files list show the highlight on the track in Now Playing.

The manual says "This option determines what directory the File Browser displays first." Therefore this option makes the Files list show the directory for the track in Now Playing, rather than showing that track in the directory.

It would have been great if this option could have worked the way I wanted, but having installed Rockbox last week to get around the e260 limit on the memory card size, I'm finding Rockbox a superb application in general.
