Bug?: Sleep Timer does not work correctly when on AC power
ufo:
No no sorry I'm not explaining myself very well.
There must be 2 different charging modes in the Original Firmware.
Mode 1:
If the player is off and the charger is plugged in, the player charges but is in "charge mode only". If you attempt to turn the unit on, it takes a long time to power up and start, I am guessing probably because in this "charge mode" the hard disk was not powered up (at all), only the battery.
Mode 2:
If the player is on and the charger is plugged in, the player must go into some kind of "low power mode" where the hard disk also spins down. An animation is displayed that it is charging, but if you press the play button again, after a second or two the iRiver is on and the hard disk can be heard respinning again momentarily.
This is not the same in the Rockbox firmware, as even when charging and the backlight is off the hard disk can be heard respinning every so often.
So I guess maybe something should be included in Rockbox to allow the hard disk to spin down when it's loaded and charging?
As for when powered off and charger is plugged in with Rockbox installed, that is now an entirely different issue, for which I think I've found another bug...
torne:
The hard disk will not spin up in Rockbox unless something accesses it, which will never happen if the player is doing nothing by default. There must be other settings involved here...

In that case have to work out what those are, so to stop the annoying disk access noise when it's not needed.
I wonder what settings what have an effect on this.
torne:
Virtually nothing in Rockbox does anything at all if the player is just sitting there not being interacted with, so I'm not sure what to suggest.
