The sleep timer code refuses to power off players which are connected via USB, or players whose chargers are connected unless they are explicitly marked as supporting powering off while charging. It just stops the audio and turns off the backlight instead.

It just stops the audio and turns off the backlight instead. While this makes some sense, if using the original firmware this statement would not be fully correct which I why I still think this could be considered a bug.If H300 is plugged in (charging) and sleep timer kicks in, say after 30 minutes, iRiver powers down but goes into "charging" mode.Is it not possible to do this with Rockbox?Instead with Rockbox it rests at the System Menu.
The player is not powered down in the OF's charging mode, it just displays a full screen charging animation. I don't see how that is better than resting in the menu.

I don't see how that is better than resting in the menu.Because there must be a separate backlight setting for that charging mode animation (I think). There's nowhere in the OF I can see to set it, but its definitely different for me.
The hard disk will not spin up in Rockbox unless something accesses it, which will never happen if the player is doing nothing by default. There must be other settings involved here...
