Default theme icons description
« on: November 05, 2010, 07:58:26 PM »
Hi,

I've searched for this topic in the forum, but apparently, there's no one else interested in.

I would like to know if there's any reference document to know the meaning of all the icons appearing in the GUI. Except for the most obvious, in fact, there are some that are hard to guess (like when you have two slashed circles... or at least that's what they look like). I've found out that there's an icon that's equivalent to the hardrive light, that blinks when the dbase is updating. For others, though, I wasn't able to find mentions.

If it helps, I have a SansaE200 v2, but I would assume the icons would be pretty much the same for different hardwares too.

thanks!

You mean what the different things in the Cabbiev2 theme mean?  I'm not sure thats documented anywhere, IIRC different devices have somewhat different versions of Cabbie depending on how much fit on the screen.  If you're not sure what something is, I guess you could open up the WPS file and compare the tags in it to ones in the manual.

Hi,

thank you for your answer. I've opened the latest RockBox zip package, and I've looked for the wps directory you mentioned. I was able to find one of the mysterious icons in the file classic_statusbar/status.bmp (the third from the last).

I've inspected also wps, sbs and rsbs files but I wasn't able to find a hint of what the icon means.

The reason I was looking for it (beside the genuine curiosity of knowing more about RockBox) was that I've got a weird behavior in my player, since all the files are invisible in the file browser but they stay accessible thought the database, after updating it.

One of the symptoms of this was the presence of two copies of the same icon status.bmp[-3] (Python notation :P) next to each other, and I was wondering if they were related.

I'll make another search in the forum to find out if someone else is experiencing the same problem. I'm using the last unstable for the v2 .

If you think it can be helpful for the development of this version, please let me know if there are debugging details I can provide you ...

Thanks!

ntropia,

It used to be documented, it probably still is and I just failed at finding it this time.

Anyway, turns out I had it cached locally from some recent work I was doing with iconsets.

It's all covered here:

I'm sorry if I didn't explained it correctly.

The icons you attached are clear enough to be understood, given also the fact that they lead to menus (so at least it's possible do deduce what their meaning is once selected).

The icons I'm interested in, though, are those in the attachment, from the status bar. The "mysterious" icon is the third from the last.

Thank you,

I'm almost certain that's "shuffle" (a dice)

The dice is indeed an icon for "Shuffle enabled" and if I remember correctly it's also used for "Repeat mode: shuffle". So it is possible that they appear twice in the statusbar, next to each other (one in place of a different "Repeat" icon which are the two above and one below the dice - or nothing when repeat is turned off).

OK, it sounds perfectly reasonable.
I have to assume that the status bar on top is related to the one at the bottom, where I can see one of the icons reported here indicating the shuffle (second from last).

Although, I think it's some sort of bug the fact I see two of them (in the same top status bar), while I don't think it is related to the files becoming invisible...

I'll malke some tests soon, and I will let you know, but let me know if there is anything that could help debugging the unstable version.

Make sure you haven't accidentally changed the Show Files setting; it's on the quickscreen by default so it's easy to do it by mistake. Set it back to All or Supported if so.

Apparently this was the problem (I was showing Playlists only) :(
My bad, I'm sorry for it.

Well, at least I've learned about the meaning of (almost) all the icons... :)

Thank you for your help!
