Access to ID3 Song Rating for themes (maybe via database)?

Hi everybody,

I found there is no access in the theme commands to ID3 song rating tags. This would be very nice for showing the rating inside the theme WPS (like the hearts theme by Eric Einem http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=717 that accesses the database).

Could be also done by a command to read ID3 song rating into database.

What do you think? Is that worth while extending the number of accessible mp3 tags or a read command for the database?

Would be happy if this could be included in rockbox....

Rockbox doesn't write tags in music files yet... some ideas for a plugin that allows tags to be edited were shared some time ago, and I even tried to develop a plugin to edit tags, but I abandoned that project for now.

Such plugin could be integrated into Rockbox (e.g. into the menu where you view ID3 tags), but until there is code to allow tags to be modified, there's no way to code Rockbox in order to write ratings in music files.

IIRC the problem with reading the id3 ratings is that there isnt really a standard way they get written?
There is no real technical reason we cant offer the id3 rating tag if someone provides a patch but there is a big feeling in the dev group to not support nonstandard tags.
