Ipod nano 1gen 2gb issues

(1/1)

Atma:
Hi,
I'm a new user to Rockbox, i'm happy with it, took a while to make it feel confortable but almost make it.

I perform an automatic install of the rockbox bootloader and software.
The music files that i use are mp3 192 kb converted from FLAC files using Foobar2000 and lame V3.98.4 codec.

I have a few problems that happens quite frecuently, (2-3 times per day) and it's starting to become troublesome:

It just that the ipod start mixing songs, like when you are at the middle of the song, the following track or some part of it starts to being reproduced, both songs sound at the same time or try to do it, so it sounds awfully.

Sometimes it just stop playing the song, (the icon of play still there, number that show remaining length of the song doesn't change), but no matter what you do it doesn't play the song, you can navigate the menu, but you just can make any music file to play, no matter if you try from files or from database.

Once one of the before mentioned issues start, I must  hard reset the ipod once or twice before it goes well again. (at least for 20- 40 minutes)

Today after after one ocurrence of the issue the album art display started to show on different colors or a bunch of pixels, till i hard reset 2 times.

I can't reproduce the issue at my will, but it happens daily.

I already read the manual for my model but didn't found anything related to this, i will be glad if someone can point me in the right direction.

Regards

Regarding your audio issues:

Have you tried listening to the resulting MP3s from foobar2000 with another piece of audio playback software? This is just a guess, but the MP3s foobar200 gave you may not have been transcoded correctly, and are causing all sorts of ruckus when played back in Rockbox.

Can you also tell us what version of Rockbox you're running? Go to System > Rockbox Info; the version number starts with an r; e.g. "rXXXXX".

Atma:
It only says Version: 3.6
Skin ram usage 106kb/237kb.
And the battery life and disk size that it's full/free

Sometimes i turn off and put it on hold, when i want to turn on again it just doesn't respond and need to perform hard reset.

Thanks for your quick response

Edit: it's not always the same song the one that presents the issue, it could be any song, and any song can be played without problems after hard reset.
Didn't heard all the songs on my house, but will check it. (on my pc I use flac)

I'm experiencing the exact same problem described by Atma on my Sandisk Clip+ with the nightly build (r29066).  Songs will suddenly go silent while playing. Selecting other tracks produce nothing but silence. Works (for a while) after rebooting.

Buschel:
Hi,

there are several bug reports in flyspray that describe your issues. To me it seems like you might experience different issues here.

One issue (the need for multiple restart) sounds like the well-known "nano overtemp" failure. This seems to be fixed with a patch. The fix has not been submitted to svn yet as it needs some testing (see http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11830)

The other issues occur for severall (all?) players are still under investigation (see http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11863 and the bug reports linked under "Related Tasks"). If you had older builds installed it is a good starting point to delete the database files and rebuild the DB.
