Does updating the iPod's official firmware help if only use Rockbox OS?

Hello,

We have an iPod classic. It's a 6th generation.

We don't plan on using the original iPod firmware/O.S. We plan on using Rockbox only and all the time.


Would updating the iPod firmware help?

Or to ask a similar question, what can the the newest iPod firmware do that the newest Rockbox version can't?

Are you talking about the 6th generation, the iPod Classic, or are you using "classic" not in the proper noun sense and talking about full-sized iPods?

I'm talking about "6th generation" 80 gb silver ipod released in 2008. Uh oh, I just learned that this iPod I bought today can NOT be ROCKBOXED!
