Problem with OF on Clip
(1/1)
sheldonisaac:
Please excuse: I did read Llorean's instructions about posting.
Yesterday I did a manual installation of the release Rockbox on my 4GB Clip.
All seemed well at bedtime.
And thanks for all your work in making this excellent software/firmware.
Today, when I tried to used the original Sansa firmware by holding down the Left key when powering it on, all it did was
the "Not enough space for Music DB. Please free 30 MB".
I redid the install, same result.
I will be very grateful for help.
Thanks,
Sheldon
Llorean:
And how much space is free?

Wow, thank you for getting back so quickly!!
OK, I will plug it in to this computer and see.
(This time I held the center button while plugging it in, and the Sansa 'flower' showed up instwad of the Rockbox logo.)
The 4GB Clip (Version 1) appearsd in Windows Explorer as
"##MUSIC#"
and has 2,492,616,704 bytes left.
Thanks, Sheldon

Marvin the Martian (at anythingbutipod ) messaged me an answer that worked, so BIG thanks to him.
--- Quote ---On your rockbox forum link you mentioned "Not enough space for Music DB. Please free 30 MB". That means your music files are corrupt, so the original firmware won't run.
What you will have to do is connect it to your computer and format the player completely, then start over, with sansa firmware and the rockbox utility.
One way to make sure your files don't get corrupted on the player when you load them is to set them as read-only on your computer before you ever load them on the player.
