Cannot uninstall Rockbox

northeye:
Hi

Am trying to uninstall RockBox v1.2.8 from my Sansa E250.
Currently the thing is stuck on rebuilding the database at 435,
strange because I previously deleted all my music (mp3) files.

Before the DB problem the DataBase option listed files that I  had
deleted on the PC.  I tried resetting the thing but something went wrong.

Files were added to the music folder if that helps.
Not sure what's going on as before I had this problem I added lots of
albums to the E250, they showed up on the file manager but only 2
were visible on the device itself.

Extremely frustrating, any ideas would be appreciated.

Finally some good news,  managed to do a file system check
using Ubuntu's Disk Utility and then reformatted the drive,
enabling me to uninstall RB and the boot manager.
Will stick to the standard software for now.

Use what you want, but even the original firmware will suffer when dealing with a damaged file system.

Hi Chronon

So  can I reinstall the firmware?
The fimware updater does not do this as I ran it once and it updated.
Can I do it manually.

thanks

Chronon:
Can you clarify?  I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

confuzeduser:
I'm having a similar problem with a Fuze v1, only worse.

Originally, I had Sandisk firmware 1.02.31.  Then I used the Rockbox 1.2.8 utility to install Rockbox 3.7 on my Fuze v1.

I've had some problems with Rockbox which are showstoppers.  For one, the Fuze keeps turning itself off while connected via USB.  That is very annoying, as it interferes with transferring music to/from the Fuze's internal memory.  I cannot make playlists on my PC, because the Fuze keeps turning itself off before I can get anything done.

So I wanted to uninstall Rockbox, and go back to the original firmware.  I've tried to do so using the Rockbox utility, but the "uninstallation" feature doesn't work.  It keeps telling me that I need to run a "normal firmware update" to remove the Rockbox bootloader.

That isn't working.  The Sandisk Updater simply sits there saying "Sandisk Updater is checking for updates.  Please wait..." forever.

How can I get Rockbox off my Fuze and go back to the Sandisk firmware?
