Sansa Clip+ strange failure after upgrade...
« on: October 31, 2010, 11:02:32 AM »
Hi,

About week ago (week before 3.7) I’ve upgraded my Rockbox on Sansa clip+ (done it many times before) - after upgrade and umount (from Linux) there was "updating database" screen from OF. I’ve just left player untouched - until it will finish. After some time I wanted to check player and - there is only black screen...

When I connect player to my Linux - there is 2gb device visible with OF and Rockbox (it's 2GB Sansa c+). Ok - I though at the moment that player simply hung and wanted to wait till battery runs out. Battery is below 3V (I’ve opened it now), screen is all the time black (after a week). Every time when I connect device do Linux I can see 2gb device, when I change something on it and umount/unplug, USB disk is not visible for some time by system (I guess OF is doing it's "updating database" then). After a while USB disk is visible again - I’ve - updated Rocbox to latest firmware, changed to oryginaln/unpached Sansa firmware - no change. I've even formatted that device and put original unmodified firmware on it - no change (device still visible on Linux side).

So... any idea what happened? And what to do now? I'm thinking about doing "http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick" procedure by it's kind of weird since my Clip is not bricked - no fully I guess...

First of all, it's a bad thing to let the battery run below 3V, it reduces its lifetime. Cutoff voltage is set at 3.3V in rockbox, and it's already a dangerous level for the battery. (if i'm wrong, please someone correct me).
Second, did you try to force the shutdown even in case of a black screen ? (press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds to do so).
