All you accomplish by opening a new thread is diluting the discussion and competing with other threads on the same idea.

So would this idea co-exist with either of those? It seems pretty clearly an alternative/replacement for them.

This is actually a forum for discussing how to implement things.  E.g. programming, ideas, implementation, etc.  We don't take requests, and we're not really interested in who wants what, so posting requests isn't very helpful and may even annoy people.  If you want to propose an idea, I suggest laying out how to do it concisely (e.g. without paragraphs of unrelated stuff that one has wade through), reading through previous discussions on related topics, and seeing what, if anything, still hasn't been discussed previously.

That said, it sounds like you something very similar to what is already implemented in that previous thread you linked.  Could you explain how its different then whats already possible?
