File browser: joining external and internal memory in one list
« on: October 05, 2010, 05:22:25 AM »
What about making the file browser show the content of both internal memory and external (uSD) in a joint list?
I mean you tell rockbox which are the root directories (example "internal=\music\" "external=\")
and than when you press the file browser button, it show the content of the 2 memories joined.
It could also indicate with a simbol weather the directory/file is internal or external, so if "\rock" is in both memories, you know which one is on the ext memory.

Also I'd like that rockbox could remember last opened directory and also database position.
If last time I was on \music\rock i'd like after restarting and pressing select button it opens on \music\rock and if I was on Database\artist\ThatGuy it goes there after restarting and pressing select.

Keep on with the really good work! Rockbox is one of that things that really change the word, at least for an audiophile!

there is a long standing wishlist item to sort of implement something like unionfs (from the nix world) where the file system is one directory and the contents are merged (so having music/ on both spots would show all the files from both...)
it really just needs someone to implement it.

Remembering last databse position isnt so simple (long standing annoyance with the db is that its rather hard to get back to a query/"location"), and remembering the browser location over boots seems like a waste of memory.

Last night a new feature was added which lets you set the start location of the browser so you can set it to always start in /music which is probably good enough for you?

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
