Apple G5 Video questions

I just got myself a used ipod. It's the 5G video 30gb model. I just put in a new after market battery.

I haven't used rockbox in a long time and im sure it's come a long way. I know in the past rockbox wasn't the best for battery life. Has this improved in the latest versions?

Depending on settings it is entirely possible to beat the Apple firmware in runtime.
