Attions MP3 player
« on: September 26, 2010, 09:08:02 PM »
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum but I've been reading some threads and the rockbox documentation provided in this website. I bought this generic mp3 player branded 'Attions', which I thought was Chinese but apparently it's a local generic brand... I thought of returning it because it had quite a few flaws; it didn't read most mp3 formats and it crashed eventually.

That was until I found rockbox, so I decided to give it a shot. Since it's generic, I dismantled it to take notes of the motherboard and components. This are some of the specs I could gather:

Motherboard: dsc323 main v1.3
Memory: W981216BH75L (Winbond 310 wc)

Screen: 320x240px
Functions: audio playback, video, camera, voice recording, FM radio, txt reading
Controls: Nintendo DS-like (up,down, left, right arrows and ABXY buttons)

I'm a website developer.. so high level coding and hw are not really my forte, but I'm willing to learn. I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction, what to read and maybe some general guidance.

Thanks so much in advanced!

You mean besides this:  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/NewPort

Do you know c and assembly?  If not, I would just take back the mp3 player.

I know both on basic level, meaning that I didn't go further than what I did in college projects. I'm willing to do the research though.

And thanks for being helpful. It's already hard asking for help in a language other than your mother tongue, buI t see it paid off. I'll get back as soon as I've finished with the New Port guide.
