Going from Rockbox to Apple OS : Rockbox files not seen under Apple OS!
pirlouwi:
Hi,
I use Rockbox more than my original IPOD Color OS, because inside Rockbox I am able to classify my MP3 files by directories.
But sometimes, I would like to switch back to my IPOD OS, because I bought some music on iTunes, or whatever reason. Problem is that I don't see my files inside IPOD OS, 'cause it has not been indexed by the original IPOD OS.
My question is the following: is it possible to regenerate the IPOD database on base of my files in my directories, so that when I switch back to IPOD OS, it see the Rockbox music files?

I don't think so.
Llorean:
It used to be possible with third party tools (if I understand correctly) but Apple removed that possibility with a firmware update long in the past (again, if I understood correctly).
bluebrother:
The Apple firmware requires all files it sees to be in its own database file (below the iPod_Control folder). If you find a tool that can add the files to that database file (though IIRC that is somewhat limited because of restrictions, especially in path length) you can use them. If not, then it's not possible.

Mediamonky has the option to rebuild the devicedatabase.
I have trying this a view times and it worked.
