More controlls for the quick option menu?
JdGordon:
don't hold your breath though, until any code is actually written this is all wishful thinking still (and the fact that this will almost certainly just stir up more arguments there isnt much motivation for me to do this)

Yes, but without anything done it's hard to see what is wrong and what needs be improved/replaced/removed. Only after having *something* done we will be able to stir more arguments.

What about "double timeout"? Hold select for 2s and GUI shows up, keep holding for another 1s and you've got you "blind" mode.

It's another very good idea too, I'm just not sure if it's possible to distinguish between two hold times.
To simplify the addition of items to the quick menu/screen, the "blind mode" could just bring the first four items of the usual menu list.
Is anyone thinking on working, or already working on this? From some post I've read on this thread, I got the idea that this has already been discussed before with no consensus, so, isn't it time to make a decision and choose between keeping the quick screen as it is now, or doing any improvements?

Everyone posting in this thread is aware that the vast majority of Rockbox can be operated blindly through the spoken interface, right? Even normal menus?
