Android dap -> usb dac

(1/1)

Hello Rockbox!!!

As I know Android OS that used in many new daps/pmp is based on open source Linux kernel.

Many of this android daps and pmps have USB-on-the-go feature (or usb-Host), so it means they have usb controller (Ainol, Mp4nation devices etc).

I wonder is it possible to Rockbox can just transport usb-audio-devise driver to firmware of any android platform pmp (not expect any big issue) to support connection to usb dac (such as pico dac for example).  ::)

I think a lot of people will pray for your happy life forever if you can do it, cuz it is hard to underestimate the huge improvement in sound quality of such good firmware.

Now this feature is supported by iPad using with camera connection kit, but it is not so portable. Rockbox can just brake the situation and confirm status of best firmware for portable sound devices again.  ;)

Andrew.

p.s. sorry for my bad english  :-\

Theres a work in progress USB audio driver on the patch tracker.  I doubt its going to work with Android though.  I'm not sure if its even possible for an application to act as a USB driver on Android.

"Install kernel"

Going to guess that doesn't work from an application, so probably no rockbox.  If you want to hack your android to do different stuff, theres lots of sites that can help you with that.
