Is there any projects still active on hacking the Six Generation ipod Classic?
« on: September 19, 2010, 02:13:26 PM »
Well I've been waiting to see if hacks would come out but nothing has happened. Rockbox look's cool but it doesn't support my ipod. I'm just wondering if there's people still trying to hack the encryption our if they've just given up on doing it.

As far as I know, an exploit exists that will allow 3rd party code to run on these, but nobody is currently working on a Rockbox port to these players.

The encryption was broken a year or so ago, but no one has taken an interest in porting anything to the Classic.  Check google, theres a lot of info about how the classic works and how the encryption was broken.

Man that stinks. All that work on breaking the encryption and no one does anything with it. Would porting it be hard?

Porting is usually a lot of hard work.  You can read the sticky in the New Ports forum if you're interested in doing the work.

Someone ported rockbox to the Nano2G using the same crack, just not to your player.

Alright well i don't know how to program so i wont be able to do it  :(. I wish it would get ported, but since there's no interest in it it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Do you think it will ever get ported?

Depends if anyone takes an interest in it.  Hard to say until that happens.
