car mode on e260 v2

(1/1)

bigzdog:
I am hoping to get car mode working so that when i turn my car off the player turns off, then start the car and the player starts with rockbox not the OF.

I saw some other bootloaders that are supposed to accomplish this, but they look like they are over 1 1/2 years old so I was nervous about using them. And they just say e200 not e200v1 or v2 so I dont know if they work for both versions or not.

Right below it, there is a comment that says 'There are newer bootloaders already on the download server, just waiting to be moved to the right place. These are also available from the "Official Test Builds" forum'

I have tried to find these newer bootloaders but haven's had any luck.

Has anyone been able to get the e200v2 series to automatically startup into rockbox when the usb adapter is plugged in?

You don't have any of those MP3 players, so you don't care what that says.

See the note here about USB:

Those instructions work for me.  If it doesn't work for you, report which bootloader and rockbox version you're running and what you tried to do.

bigzdog:
Thanks

Looks like I cannot do it because I have a v2 player...v1 looks like it can used patched firmware to accomplish what I wanted.

* SansaAMS v2: Currently disabled because it fails randomly. Until its ready, use the OF's USB.

1)  You don't have an AMSv2 player, look more carefully at the chart
2)  You didn't ask about USB, you asked about car mode, which does not involve using USB
3)  I already told you it works on your player, so why are you trying to prove that it doesn't?  I'm not trying to fool you.

Just follow the directions.  Unless I completely misunderstand you it should work fine.

bigzdog:
You were spot on. Thanks for the info and it is working fine.

I have to say the chart was not obvious since there is a star to indicate both footnotes, maybe have superscript 1 and 2 to differentiate which footnote is associated with which devices.
