Software vs Hardware
« on: September 16, 2010, 12:25:06 PM »
I need a clarification on what is due to the hardware of the player and what to the software (RB):

if a mp3 player states on the original specs that can't play .mp4 or .m3u files and i rockbox it, will it be able to ?
Thanks

What the original firmware supports doesn't matter to rockbox.  All of our devices play all formats we support except for the ancient Archos players, and a few that are too slow for APE and AAC-HE (although they'll still play it, just with glitches).

The archos were the last players with hardware decoders if thats what you're wondering.
