Files 'missing' within Rockbox, but visible when mounted to computer

(1/1)

wilberfan:
I was listening to my Sansa e270 today, when I decided to try out some games.  One of them gave me some kind of memory error.

I restarted the player, drilled down into the folder where the podcast was (along with a dozen or so others)--but the folder was empty.   ALL the folders were empty (ie, no files displayed).

When I got home, I plugged the Sansa into my computer--and all the files showed up.

I've since reinstalled RB (and the bootloader), tried recopying the files , to no avail.   I even ran a fsck.vfat against the device...

What could the problem be?   ???

torne:
Have you accidentally changed the "Show Files" setting? (maybe from the quickscreen). Set it back to "All" or "Supported" if so.

wilberfan:
*I* didn't change it (no, really!!) but resetting that, uh, setting seems to have fixed the problem.  Would (could) a 'memory error' reset that option?  Because I was no where near that option.  (Had forgotten there even WAS such a thing!)

saratoga:
You probably just weren't paying attention when you changed it.

AlexP:
Being on the quickscreen it is very easy to change by mistake without noticing.
