Playing Music Crashes iPod 5G
« on: September 14, 2010, 02:30:23 PM »
Hello,

I just installed Rockbox on my iPod 5G (60gb).  I uploaded my music to it (about 55 gb) and also some Gameboy games.  The Gameboy games work okay, or at least as okay as I expected from reading about Rockboy.  But when I try to play music, the song will get through about 10 seconds before the device crashes and the screen reads "Data abort at 40005D24 (0)".  I have found only one song where this doesn't happen and I noticed that this song doesn't have album art…Any ideas on what I can do?

thanks,
willy

Did you buy your player refurbished/secondhand? It sounds like you might have the logic board from a 30GB model, which only has 32MB of RAM: this causes the behaviour you describe if you install a 64MB build.

The release build doesn't have this functionality yet, but if you use the current build it will detect when it's being run on a device with only 32MB of RAM and do the right thing automatically.
