rock box and car stereos

ok i have rockbox running on an ipod nano 1g.  After install the ipod is no longer recognized by my sony cdx-gt63uiw cd player. The ipod is connected via usb to the cd player.  Any suggestion on how i can make it work?

If you're a programmer, you could look into how it fails.  Otherwise, probably nothing you can do.

You can of course always boot to the Apple disk mode or to the OF

yeah, i just tried booting back to the apple os, the cd player recognizes it, but says no music.  All music on the ipod is in mp3 format.

Random guess:  you didn't add the music with iTunes.  However, if you need more help with iTunes or whatever, try an Apple forum.

yeah i did not use itunes to add the music, it requires converting to the apple .m4a format, which is the whole reason for switching to rockbox

It's possible that the car stereo detects Apple USB IDs and then expects some Apple-specific things to work. Rockbox just implements mass storage, not any of the fancy non-standard Apple extensions.

in that case is there a way to make rockbox ignore the fact that its plugged in, so i can use the usb to charge it?

This is not true.  iTunes is quite happy with MP3.

of course, "hold menu and plug it in" lol i should have remembered that.

I want to give a big Thank You to the developers.  The equalization and bass boost put my old Phillip's go gear to shame!

After 20 minutes of tweaking it, I  have it hitting lows with my jvc marshmallows, that the 2 12in sub-woofers in my car struggle to produce.
