Flash Memory based iPod Mini & Rockbox
h.finn:
Hi everybody,
I'm not sure this is the right section!
..........
I'm planning to get an 8gb Compact Flash memory installed in my iPod, to replace the existing 4gb mini hard disk.
Do you know if I'll have any problem reinstalling Rockbox with the CF memory or if there are other issues with R. (or even worst sound quality) related to this change of memory?
Many thanks,
H.
gevaerts:
This should work without problems.
There's one thing to watch out for, and that is that the disk in the ipod mini is 5mm thick, while most CF cards are 3.3mm. This means that you have to add some bits of cardboard (or similar) to compensate, or you might have issues with the clickwheel not working properly.
h.finn:
Oh dear...........!
I'm not the one actually doing it
It's these guys (they've being doing it for a while, don't know if you know them

...........
What do you mean by "should work"?

I mean that this is a common thing to do, and I don't think I've heard of instances where it doesn't work. If it's done by people who have experience with this, I wouldn't expect any problems.
h.finn:
.............ok
so, you think if it's done by "professionals" I can go for it?
H.
