dust inside screen on sansa e200
« on: September 02, 2010, 02:52:47 PM »
Has anyone tried cleaning the inside of the glass on an e200 series?  I'm wondering how hard this would be.  I have a lot of dust building up from time spent in pocket.   I've taken the back off and taken the battery out, but I don't see how to get to the screen.   I don't want to break my rockbox so i've just been living with a few speckles.  I wish the e200 came with one of those rubber port plugs since the port is so big it lets dust in somewhat easily.

Thanks.

I unscrew the back and blow the dust off the inside of the screen like once a year on my e200.

OK, finally figured this out,  I didn't realize before, but there are 4 additional screws on the inside that allow removal of the entire front of the device which includes the clear plastic window covering the lcd.  Once I got that off the dust was easily cleared from the lcd and the clear 'window'.

So,
take the 4 screws out of the back,  remove the battery(may not be necessary, can't remember),  locate and remove the 4 TINY screws holding the face plate.  clean, replace,  enjoy your crystal clear display!
