Ipod nano 1g frozen

(1/2) > >>

furikage:
I just installed rockbox into my nano 1st gen. After about 10 minutes, the ipod froze on me.

To be more specific, the backlight will not turn off, user inputs have no effect, time display shows the hardware is stuck, and the driver can't be picked up by the computer.

I've tried to go into disk mode (select + play), but I have no luck.

Is there anyone that can help me with this problem?

torne:
Turn the hold switch on and then off again, then hold menu and select together until the player resets. This may take over thirty seconds sometimes, so be patient.

Hi, furikage, I want to know your result. Does that work at last? Because I have the similar situation. Please let me know whether it works for you or not. Thanks!

Chronon:
wwywong, just follow the advice yourself.  It should work unless your hardware is really broken.

I tried. I follow the steps, turn hold on and off, then hold "Select" + "Menu" for more than a minute, but no apple rebooting screen comes up. When I plug in pc, nothing happened. When I plug in wall charging, nothing happen to ipod. I don't know whether it is charging or not. What happened to me is the following:

I install rockbox successfully once, because I can boot into rockbox. Then I tried to boot into original fw, it also works. But then I following the manual and turn the ipod off from rockbox (holding play) and put the hold switch to on and plug into the pc, then problem start to happen. I see apple sign, then for a long while thing happen, so I hold "menu" + "select" so the ipod is turning off (the screen image start disappearing)

Then the ipod nano 1st gen is dead and that is the last time I see the screen. =( Help! (before that my ipod is charged to 90%)
