The V2 has 1MB of eDRAM, and 8MB of regular DRAM in the package.  The V1 is probably the last Sandisk player to use external DRAM chips.

Thank you I did not know that  ;D.  So they followed the apple trend and started having the ram built into the CPU package?  Saves a lot of board space but not very modder-friendly.  Looks like my v2 fuze will not be taken apart now.  I've not opened up a version 2 yet (you just saved me from bothering) but you mods might want to update this page to note that the second version of the fuze has only embedded memory: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaFuze#Fuze_v2

That page is where I verified that theres only embedded memory.  Note that theres no DRAM chip listed for the V2 and no DRAM in the picture.
