WPS only hotkey for targets with few buttons?
(1/1)
Confuseling:
Could a target like the Clip+, which has too few buttons to have a user assignable hotkey in the file browser, have it only available in the WPS? I understand they're separately configured anyway, so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch.
This question motivated by the recent short lived reassignment of 'short down' to open the pitch screen - it caused something of a stir [1] amongst users who use it as a de facto 'turn backlight back on' button. Makes more sense to me to have it user assignable.

The hotkey for WPS and filebrowser could be different although it would be confusing IMO.
Long home looks like a good choice but it is quickscreen already, perhaps we could use this key and make quickscreen a hotkey option?

I might be completely confused about this (heck, it's happened before :-)), but at the moment there is no hotkey on either screen on these targets is there?
They wouldn't need to be different buttons - it's just allowing one to exist without the other. If you can't have a hotkey on the menu because you need the buttons for the menu itself, I don't see any reason that needs to impact the WPS - just only activate the WPS hotkey. At the moment, 'short down' is a wasted button on the WPS on the Clip for anyone who is happy to use the 'first buttonpress enables backlight only' option as it is intended, and I assume this applies to a fair few players.

That also could work, though I'd be surprised if there were many people who would find a hotkey more useful than the quickscreen, as the quicksreen seems a bit like a 'meta-hotkey'. I'm sure they exist though...
EDIT:
The more I think about it, the more it seems that 'back to main menu' on the home button is the weak link. If I ruled the world, short power would be 'back to main menu', left would be 'back', short home would be 'quickscreen', and long home would be 'hotkey'.
I can't think of anything you could actually get 'stuck' in without separate 'left' and 'back' keys, but maybe I'm wrong.
That make more sense to anyone else?
