Rockbox on 240 GB Ipod 5.5 ??

<< < (2/2)

saratoga:
They're 1.8 inch drives, not 2.5 inch, but assuming you get the right model with the right connectors it should work.

Probably not. The 30gb has room for a 5mm thick drive, as opposed to 8mm for the 60gb and 80gb models. I'm pretty sure those 240gb drives are 8mm, so you'll need a new back.

And of course as saratoga said, you need an 1.8" drive, not 2.5". Be careful though, there are several different connector varieties on 1.8" drives, and obviously only one of those will fit in the ipod.

Alexannino:
What about SDD drive's?

Same caveats as the spinning rust variety.

EDIT:  It has been brought to my attention perhaps my former sentence is unclear.
The answer to the question "What about SSD drives?" is "The same rules which were mentioned above about traditional HDDs apply."
