Line selector menu
moskitta75:
Hi everybody, while testing the graphical interface on my Sansa FUZE (v1) I tried to custom it starting from a standard playing theme. So I tried to custom also the main menu background, I placed there Tux and the gnome logo but then there was the problem of the line selector that hides background. I tried to modify the selector colour but there isn't any alpha setting.
It would be great if we can modify also alpha channel to obtain a transparent selector menu...
I'm sorry I'm not able to do that, if I would I'd made it and post here...

I'd be nice to have alpha-enabled line selectors on Rockbox, however I don't think that is possible because it would be too CPU intensive (taking too much time to render the display, thus making the user interface unusable).
What you can do is switch from using a bar to using a pointer, which is a steady icon that stays at the right of the selected menu entry, thus reducing the area covered by the line selector.

Good idea, I'll look for it...
But I want to insist in having this alpha setting, may be the cpu work won't be so intensive, I hope.
I thought that if we (they) can not implement the alpha channel, it would be better a line selector long as the menu voice instead all the screen or much better only a colour change of the menu voice instead a line selector. The best is that someone would choose what he wants may be also an alpha setting if it would be possible for better cpus.

I see no reason at all why this wouldn't be possible, in fact, it has been discussed quite some time ago by myself and JdGordon and from what I remember it was a "yeah, sure...when/if I/someone gets around to it" thing and not a "No...it'll never happen" thing.
(the new skin parser was taking preference at that time if I recall)
Btw, the icons use transparency...and most .sbs will contain some form of transparency also.
Saying it won't happen because you *think* it might take to much CPU time seems a little bit misguided (sorry if that seems harsh, I'm trying to word this as best I can...I just really don't think you thought about your answer).
