Not enough disk space error on sansa e200, v1
(1/1)
cuznleroy:
Saw a post from last January regarding this, but need clarification. I've downloaded the recent version of Rockbox to my PC and attemtped to install on my Sansa e200 series, V1 device, but get "not enough disk space" errors. I'm assuming I need to free up space on the Sansa, but am not certain and am wonder how much space is needed.
Thanks

15 or 20MB on the Sansa should be enough. You'll probably also need a couple MB free on your PC for temp files while its downloading FWIW.

Rockbox Utility checks if the player has at least enough space to extract the downloaded zip file. This is done by querying the zip file for the amount of space all files need plus a safety value of about 1MB (which is also added to compensate calculation errors caused by the fact that the filesystem can only occupy complete clusters, which means the required size is a slightly larger than the size of the actual data). This does not take into account that installing will overwrite already existing files (i.e. your old installation), but Rockbox requires a bit of space to work anyway (at least for storing its configuration and state) so having a bit of free space around is strongly advisable anyway.
