Import contacts to Ipod
trimtri:
I am sorry for my English. On my Ipod 30G, I set brightness level to 1. When press long Play button to shut down, the dark screen appears with text: shutting down, but then the screen become much more bright and turn off. To save power, I think Rockbox should boot and shut down as Ipod without Rockbox, fade in and fade out. Thank you for your patience to my English.

AlexP tried to explain this here:
--- Quote from: AlexP on August 28, 2010, 07:48:43 AM ---I suspect that you are referring to ipod sleep, which isn't shutting down or booting at all. If you only turn off for a short time this will save power, but for longer periods it will cost less power to shut down properly. This is why you find with ipods that if you leave them for a bit with full battery they will be empty when you come to use it a few days later.
--- End quote ---
(highlighted important aspects)
Depending on the use case, "sleep" doesn't really save any power at all, it could even use more power than shutting the device down completely.
With the original iPod firmware, there isn't really a "shut down" at all, rather, think of it as being similar to "Hibernate":
The player is in a very low power state, but, it is still "On" even after it has "Shut Down" and will continue to draw power (albeit very little) when in this state.
At least with Rockbox I know that when I turn my iPod off, it's actually off.
If someone were to implement "Sleeping" for the iPods, I'm sure it would be accepted...but, it would be another option I imagine, it wouldn't replace the "Shut Down" function altogether.
