Ipod Photo Bricked

I'm trying to turn my Ipod on; it gives me the apple logo for a while (normal), then goes to the "dead ipod" screen with the web-address to Apple's support beneath; then it turns off again.  Same thing happens when I hold the menu and center button. 

When I hold down the center button and the play button, it brings me to the "Okay to Disconnect" Screen.  I tried plugging it in from this screen, and it showed that it was connected to the computer on the ipod, but it didn't Sync with the computer; instead it just stayed in that state for a while before returning to the "dead Ipod" screen.

also, if you try to plug it in without even turning it on, it shows the "charging battery" icon, and nothing else.

That's pretty much it.  Help please!! College starts soon and I need my music!!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When it tries to start, put it up to your ear. Do you hear a whirring noise or something implying hard drive activity?
