iPod 5.5 Line-Out Mute Headphone

It appears that the Line Out is now silenced when the volume is turned all the way down in an attempt to mute the headphone jack. Is there any way to mute the headphone jack and yet retain the Line-Out?

See FS#10082.

Volume adjustment via the output amplifier doesn't affect line out, but it also doesn't allow volume to be decreased enough.  That change added volume adjustment via the digital to analog converter so volume can be decreased further.  As a side effect, this means that at low volumes, line out level is decreased.
