Finally, allow me to point out that Rockbox is Free Software, not freeware. Yes there is a difference.

I also point out that installing Rockbox on any player is a choice the owner makes. The Rockbox developers write the software, but none of us make anyone install it.

If you worry about the risk to your player, simply do not install it. We won't mind.
