Rockbox just turn my mp3 dead
vincentar:
I usually love freewares and the first tought i had when i installed rockbox was that it's rock (way more powerful than my old firmware). But this god damn shit just turn dead my mp3 in 3 days. I pluged my sansa fuze when rockbox was on and then...pouf...black screen and absolutelly no way to turn it on again. I'm very pissed off right now even if i know that i only could blame myself. It's a shame to see but the free softwares are actually far below the paying ones. I should remember that.
As you may noticed i'm not very good in english, so i apology if i didn't made myself very clear.

Its the last issue here:

Wait a couple days and it'll reboot on its own when the battery dies. Unfortunately theres no easy way to disconnect the battery.
vincentar:
thanks man.
But i already broke my screen because i was pissed off. I think i will buy a new one.
Does rockbox present a risk on stable versions ? Because even if it crashed my player like a dumb shit, it was a cool software and i like to install it on my futur player, but i dont want it to break again.
aim:
There is always a risk fiddling with firmware.

If you don't want it to break then don't smash it just because software crashes. Of course, the aim is to have Rockbox as stable as possible, but I don't think anybody can ever guarantee that a piece of (reasonably complex) software will never crash.
You may wish to consider a player that has a hardware mechanism for resetting the device in the event of a crash.
