Workout Mode
« on: August 08, 2010, 03:43:27 PM »
is there a possible having a workout mode on the rockbox? I prefer to listen to my audiobook when I'm resting during rockbox out and listen to music while lifting. It's like this

You play audiobook and during the lift, you press the middle button or some combination and it swaps to a entirely new playlist while keeping the old one. Just press the same combination and it swaps back!

kind of like having 2 mp3 players at once :]!

Something similar to this should be doable with bookmarks. Enable "bookmark on stop" and "load last bookmark" and make the two playlists and save them, then to switch: just stop what's playing, a bookmark will be created, browse to the other playlist, start that and it will resume from a bookmark for that playlist if there is one. A few more presses but something you can do easily already without further culltering the UI :)

I do something very similar to this with the bookmarks set as nls described, plus "keep a list of bookmarks" turned on. For me, I have 4 playlists for music, new music, talk podcasts, and music podcasts. I stop whatever I'm listening to, it creates a bookmark and dumps me to the file browser. I hit menu, which goes to the menu highlighting the bookmarks option. I hit select, then scroll through the 4 playlists to open.

So 3 presses (stop, menu, select), some scrolling (the worst part as you have to look at the screen to make sure you're on the right bookmark), and one more press. Not too bad and much more adaptable than the original idea.
