Resurfaceing

I have a sansa E200 and it seems to have collected scratches from around the world..... of my pocket.
So how would you go about refinishing the plastic side (i have already done the metal side).
DVD scratch filler? some formula you make in your kitchen?

Displex polish meant for mobile phones works just fine for these plastic covers, given that there is no additional coating on top. This means you can't polish touchscreens or painted plastic.

Novus has a series of of polishes: 3, 2, 1.  The idea is to work with the deepest scratches with #3 and work down to 1.  For many, Novus #2 will probably be good enough.  Care is definitely needed for painted surfaces.

I bought a used Sansa e270 off of ebay and it was scratched all to hell.  I bought a bottle of Brasso for about $3 or $4.  Squirted a little on a soft cloth and started buffing it.  It made it look 100X better.  The previous owner would probably be shocked to see it now.  Looks almost new.

Got the Brasso suggestion from some website.  Worth a try.  I think Wal-Mart or hardware stores sell it.

I've used Brasso on my 5G iPod.  It's was good for removing shallow scratches and scuffs on the plastic.  I didn't bother with deeper scratches because there are few of them and I don't want to remove too much plastic.  Afterwards, I cleaned off Brasso residue with rubbing alcohol.  When I carefully examined the screen afterwards I noticed that Brasso left a very slight haze.  The haze wasn't noticeable in normal use.

I only did the entire iPod while it was disassembled.  While the iPod was assembled, I only polished the screen because I didn't want anything to leak into the iPod.

If your player has painted surfaces, be careful with Brasso and rubbing alcohol.  Both contain solvents which can damage some paint.
