sync flac files in itunes with ipod running rockbox
rocksteve:
Hello,
I have imported flac files into itunes and read them with amarra.
I would like to synchronise them with my ipod (color/photo) and be able to play them.
Would an installation of rockbox on my ipod allow me to synchronise the flac files in my itunes library and play them?
Cheers,
Stève
AlexP:
Rockbox (when used in USB mode) just appears as a hard disk, and you can get music on however you want. If you want to use itunes then you need to use the the apple firmware and Rockbox can't change what itunes will let you sync or not.
rocksteve:
Did anybody test if the file type matters on the sync by itunes?
I mean is the only reason that my flac files in itunes aren't synchronise with my ipod the software on the ipod?....
If yes, then installing rockbox on my ipod would solve the problem.
Does anybody know more about it?

No, it wouldn't. When you install Rockbox you can still dual boot the apple firmware. To use itunes you need to boot to the apple firmware first, itunes will not recognise Rockbox. Therefore nothing has changed. Rockbox will play flacs, but you need to use other software than itunes to sync, or just copy and paste them on.

Either iTunes recognises it as an iPod (in which case it will only sync formats it thinks iPods support onto it) or it doesn't (in which case it won't sync with it at all). Use something else to sync.
