Do I have a brick?
« on: July 28, 2010, 07:40:03 AM »
I have a Sansa e280R v1.  The only sign of life is the blue ring when I press power.  When I try Recovery or Manufacturing mode the only response is the blue ring.  No USB device shows up.  The screen is always dark.  This problem started after I moved the charger from one outlet to another.  I shut it off, moved to a different outlet and it would not start up.  It had been working fine for the better part of a year.

An e200v1 will sometimes act like this if the memory module has connectivity issues with the main logic board.

You can sometimes correct this problem by removing the four screws securing the back and pressing on the black foam rectangle above the battery.

Thanks a million!  When I pressed on the square I heard a snap.  Like something seating properly for the first time.  It appears that the Damn thing was never assembled right at the factory.  I was sure it was toast.

It is easy to displace - dropping it will cause it (I've done it twice)
