Uninstallation / updating OF question

(1/1)

Hi all,

I read the installation instructions in the manual but could not come up with an answer to these questions.  If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Model:  Sansa Fuze v1  ( with latest firmware 01.02.31 )

Q1.  In the uninstall section for the Fuze v1, it simply says that Rockbox offers a dual-boot mode for both firmwares.  While this is nice, is it still possible to entirely uninstall RockBox in the future if I want?

Q2.  If I install Rockbox, is it still possible to update the Sansa original firmware while both are loaded onto the hardware?  (So that if I dual-boot into the original instead of Rockbox it will be the most up to date version? )  How would this process work?

Thanks!

Just install an unmodified Sandisk firmware and you're done. Without the Rockbox bootloader Rockbox won't run.

Yes, but you need to patch that new firmware with the Rockbox bootloader first. I'm not sure if all Sandisk firmware versions are supported, but I'm quite sure that new version need work before they can be supported, if only verifying if the patching still works the same way.
