Is there a way to disable disk spindown?
« on: July 21, 2010, 10:58:02 AM »
I have changed my iPod mini HD to a CF. So far so good, the only issue is with the disk spindown, that gives a delay when accessing files. Is there a way to disable it?

I had a similar issue after installing an SSD into an iriver. The solution I found was to set the disk spindown to 0. As you cannot set this value using the Rockbox interface use a text editor to open up config.cfg in the .rockbox folder on the ipod (or create it if it doesn't exist) and insert the line "disk spindown: 0" (without quotes). If it works I would recommend creating a file called fixed.cfg and insert the line in there as well. Values in fixed.cfg take precedence over those in config.cfg at boot up and are less likely to be accidentally overwritten when changing settings using the rockbox interface.

Thanks, I will try that.  ;D

Edit: It worked nice (no hangs at all), but it seems that make another problem appear: every time I boot it, i have some problem reading files (opening plugins, reading files, loading wps...), but after some navigation it works fine.
I ran chkdsk, but doesn't solve it. Any hint?
