REMOTE CONTROL iRiver FROM PC
(1/1)
tomatitotarifa:
Hello all.
I'm new to Rockbox and this forum.
What I was thinking of was an app that would permit to control the iriver like a second sound card, i.e., be able to change songs, create playlists, etc. from the PC, not having to touch the iRiver. User interface would be the whole PC screen, not just the little iRiver screen, but with the sound quality of the iRiver.
Maybe this is alreay out there but I haven't found it?
Thanks for reading.

Assuming you mean the iRiver H10 series, this will probably be possible eventually if we get USB audio support, and the reverse is already possible (using the iriver as a PC input device).
If you mean one of the other iRiver players, then no. The H10 is the only one we support with a programmable USB controller. The others are disk mode only.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. The model is the iRiver iHP-120... suppose it's not the one you mean. But thanks a lot anyway for the info.

I seem to remember that there is a UART on the iRiver H100 (or maybe H300) players - with a LOT of software work and a bit of hardware to get to RS232 levels you might be able to send it commands from a PC and get responses...
I think that in the early days people hooked it up to see what the original firmware output on it but I don't think that anyone did anything with it in Rockbox.
