Sansa c200-series headphone issue...Rockbox fix?
(1/1)
Pockets:
I've got a Sansa c200 series player, running Rockbox. I've had it for the past 3 years, but topped using it a while back because the headphone jack busted, which is notoriously common with that series. One of the pins in the jack was bent and broke and fell out, partially. The right-hand side works fine when I use headphones, but now the left is muted.
What I'm looking for: a way to run my stereo music in mono, through both the right and left channels. Is there a way to do that?

I think this will work if you set the stereo width to 0%:

Pockets,
You can just go to:
Settings\Sound Settings\Channel Configuration\Mono
To force the output to mono.
But, as I understand it you are wanting to find a way to get the output to be played through both channels (left and right) of your IEMs (headphones/whatever)?
Even with Stereo Width set to 0%, or actually forcing the output to mono, the left channel of your IEMs will still be muted.
The way I see it, you have two options:
- Replace the headphone jack of your DAP.
- Re-wire your IEMs so that they both run off of the remaining (working) right channel.
*(If you cut the plug off your IEMs and re-wire it using a wire-able plug from a hobby/electrical store (in addition to forcing the output to mono via the sound settings in Rockbox) then you will have both channels of your IEMs working again)
However, this is a bit of a hacky solution...ideally, you'll want to replace (if possible) the headphone jack in the DAP or pay someone to do it for you.
Cutting up/re-wiring your IEMs is a bit of a drastic solution to this problem.
If I got it wrong though, and you are perfectly happy with only having one channel of your IEMs working, then either setting the Stereo Width, or forcing to mono will work fine.
