Battery is getting eaten FAST
muyloco1:
Hmmm So is my theme a battery eater? I use a large font, (size 20) but I don't have any unusual symbols in my song names. I've noticed that the battery takes a long time to deplete when the backlight goes off so that's good. What takes up a lot of battery is when I'm listening to music and I'm constantly pressing next. Playing GBC games for 20-30 minutes takes up 20 percent, so I'll have to buy a wall charger so I can play and charge simultaneously. Can anyone inform me if Rockboy will get better? Or is it at its best it can be already?

I don't think theme makes much difference.

No one has worked on rockboy in many years, but I'm sure it could be improved a lot more.

That is to be expected - when you reach the end of the buffered songs, Rockbox must access the disk in order to buffer the next tracks in the playlist. In addition to the power used to spin up/access the disk, Rockbox boosts the CPU so it can begin decoding the tracks.
As a rule of thumb, the more often a device accesses a hard drive (or flash memory, but to a lesser extent), the more battery power it will drain in one session.

This, too, is to be expected. Emulation of even low-powered hardware can be more demanding than it looks. The Game Boy/Color is no exception. As a result, playing a GB/GBC requires the CPU to be almost constantly boosted, draining the battery at alarming rates for a DAP that was probably not made with such CPU activity in mind.
As a side note, it is quite possible that the battery in your Fuze has led a long life and may be nearing "retirement", as it were. Keep an eye on it.

I got it just yesterday. Then again it was re-certified from newegg...
