SANSA C240 FM PRESETS "INVISIBLE"
« on: July 02, 2010, 05:45:23 PM »
I have a sansa and created an fm playlist Charlot.fmr.
I created a folder called /.rockbox/fmpresets/
and copied the file there.  When I go into FM
and choose FM RADIO / Any Other No it does not show my preset list.
I choose LOAD PRESET LIST and receive msg 'No Files'.

SHould the directory be  /.rockbox/fmpresets/  OR /rockbox/fmpresets/

How come they are not showing up?
What also seems strangs is if I choose FILES and then choose ROOT
it does not let me view directory it just displays a song and plays it.

HELP!!

The manual has a lot of good information, including information about presets: http://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-sansae200/rockbox-buildch5.html#x8-1000005.9

Yep, read thru that section 3 times before posting.
And on a sidenote, I think that section of the manual needs to be rewritten.

Anyone know why the fmr file is not being seen?

A patch is a text file that describes a change to another text file, such as source code or a manual.

And why would a developer ask a user to send him a software patch?

It doesn't makes sense.

Oh yea, it is a Sansa E240 V1

In a volunteer based project, i think it has a lot of sense.

If something needs to be (re)written then the best way to make this happen is to participate to the project and (re)write it.

Are you absolutely sure that your preset file has the extension ".fmr"?
If you browse to the .rockbox/fmpresets dir with the file browser, does the file show up?

The source for the manual is here: http://svn.rockbox.org/viewvc.cgi/trunk/manual/

Patches are preferred in latex format, but plain text is possible.  Please keep in mind if you intend to rewrite something to take into account the differences between all the different models that rockbox supports, unless of course it is something model specific.  We would love more contributions to the manual, so patches are always welcome.  Take care of grammar and spelling (UK English spellings please) and we will like them even more! :)

Please try the suggestion by n1s. I just tried to load an FM list on my clip+ (I don't have an e200 with radio) and it worked fine for me.

Regarding files not showing as you would expect, maybe you don't see them because of the setting in menu Settings / General Settings / File View / Show Files.

What?  You said you would be happy to update documentation, and I gave you information on how best to achieve this.  What is the problem?
